What to Expect at Your Podiatry Appointment
Our office is located on the second floor, and when you arrive, you’ll be welcomed by our front desk team and checked in for your appointment. You’ll then complete a short questionnaire on an iPad so we can better understand your concerns before your visit begins.
After check-in, you’ll be seated in our comfortable lobby, where we offer tea and snacks for your convenience. If you come with a partner or family member, we have ample seating and spacious exam rooms so everyone can feel comfortable during your visit.
Next, one of our medical assistants will bring you back to an exam room and review your chief complaint and medical history. Then you’ll meet with our podiatrist, Dr. Cate, who will perform a thorough physical examination and ask additional questions to better understand your condition and goals.
If needed, X-rays or ultrasound can be performed right here in the office and reviewed with you during your visit. From there, we will discuss your diagnosis and work together to create a treatment plan tailored to your needs.
Not every treatment plan is the same, and that’s intentional. We believe in individualized care based on your condition, your lifestyle, and your goals. If braces or orthotics are recommended, you may be able to leave with them the same day. We also provide information sheets about your condition so you can refer back to them later, if needed.
Throughout your visit, we encourage questions and make sure you leave with a clear understanding of your next steps and what to expect moving forward.
Our Foot + Ankle Services
Surgery
While many conditions can be treated conservatively, some require procedural intervention to provide lasting relief. Our practice offers a range of in-office surgical procedures designed to be efficient, effective, and convenient for our patients.
We perform minimally invasive procedures such as flexor tenotomies for hammertoe correction, ingrown toenail procedures, wart removal, and soft tissue excisions. We also offer diagnostic procedures including skin biopsies and skin scraping tests to accurately evaluate underlying skin (athletes foot) and nail conditions (nail fungus).
By performing these procedures in-office, we’re able to provide timely treatment in a comfortable setting without the need for hospital visits or prolonged scheduling delays. Our focus is always on delivering precise care with minimal downtime, helping you return to normal activity as quickly and safely as possible.

Accurate diagnosis starts with the right imaging. Our office is equipped with both digital X-ray and diagnostic ultrasound, allowing us to evaluate a wide range of foot and ankle conditions quickly and precisely.
Digital X-rays provide clear, immediate images of bones and joints, making them essential for diagnosing fractures, arthritis, deformities, and alignment issues. For soft tissue concerns, diagnostic ultrasound allows us to visualize tendonitis, ligaments, neuromas, and areas of inflammation in real time.
By combining these technologies, we’re able to assess both bone and soft tissue in a single visit — leading to faster answers, more accurate diagnoses, and more targeted treatment plans without the need for outside imaging appointments.
Shockwave Therapy
The Zimmer System
As a foot and ankle surgeon, Dr. Cate believes surgery should never be the first option — it should be the last. That’s why our practice is proud to offer cutting-edge, evidence-based therapies designed to treat pain at its source and help your body heal naturally.
One of the most advanced treatments we offer is extracorporeal shockwave therapy (ESWT) using the Zimmer system. This non-invasive technology delivers targeted acoustic waves to injured tissue, stimulating blood flow, accelerating healing, and reducing chronic inflammation. Shockwave therapy has been highly effective for conditions like plantar fasciitis, Achilles tendinitis, and other stubborn soft tissue injuries that have not responded to traditional treatments.
What makes this especially important is that many patients come to us after months — or even years — of persistent pain. In many cases, shockwave therapy can help avoid injections or surgery altogether, with little to no downtime.
Laser Therapy
The Remy System
We offer advanced red light therapy using the Remy system. This innovative treatment uses specific wavelengths of light to penetrate deep into tissues, stimulating cellular repair, improving circulation, and reducing inflammation at the source of pain. We use this for tendinitis, arthritis, plantar fasciitis, tarsal tunnel syndrome, stress fractures, ankle sprains, ankle fractures, and ankle impingement.
Red light therapy is especially effective for soft tissue injuries, chronic inflammation, and delayed healing conditions. It works by enhancing the body’s natural recovery processes, helping damaged tissue repair more efficiently without the need for medications or invasive procedures.
For patients dealing with ongoing pain or slow healing, the Remy system provides a comfortable, non-invasive option that can accelerate recovery, improve function, and reduce the need for more aggressive treatments.
Injection Therapy
For patients with persistent pain and inflammation, injection therapy can be an effective treatment option to help reduce symptoms and improve function. We offer targeted injections under ultrasound for a variety of foot and ankle conditions, using careful evaluation to determine when this treatment is appropriate.
Injection therapy may be recommended for conditions such as plantar fasciitis, arthritis, tendon inflammation, and other painful areas that have not improved with initial conservative care. By delivering medication directly to the source of pain, injections can help calm inflammation, relieve discomfort, and support your recovery.
Our goal is always to use the least invasive treatment that will provide meaningful relief, and injection therapy can be an important part of that approach for the right patient.
Nerve Testing
We also offer advanced nerve testing, including epidermal nerve fiber density (ENFD) biopsy, to accurately diagnose small fiber neuropathy. This specialized test allows us to evaluate the health of the smallest nerve fibers in the skin — something that standard nerve conduction studies often cannot detect.
Small fiber neuropathy can cause symptoms such as burning, tingling, numbness, or unexplained foot pain, and is commonly associated with conditions like diabetes or idiopathic nerve disorders. By identifying nerve damage early and precisely, ENFD testing helps guide more targeted and effective treatment.
This in-office procedure is quick, minimally invasive, and provides valuable diagnostic insight that allows us to move beyond symptom management and focus on identifying the underlying cause of your nerve pain.
Nail Fungal Treatment
The Lunula System
We also offer Lunula laser therapy, an advanced, non-invasive treatment for fungal toenails. Unlike traditional treatments that rely on oral medications or topical solutions, the Lunula system uses low-level laser energy to safely penetrate the nail and target fungal infection at its source.
This painless therapy works by disrupting fungal growth while promoting healthy nail regeneration, without heat, discomfort, or damage to surrounding tissue. It’s an excellent option for patients who want to avoid the potential side effects of oral antifungal medications or the frustration of ineffective topical treatments.
Lunula laser therapy provides a safe, convenient, and clinically proven approach to improving nail clarity and restoring healthier-looking toenails over time.
Custom Orthotics
To help improve alignment, support your feet, and reduce pain, we offer custom orthotic scanning through Forward Motion. This advanced scanning process allows us to capture a detailed image of your foot structure so your orthotics can be designed to match your unique biomechanics and treatment needs.
Custom orthotics can be an excellent solution for a wide range of conditions, including flat feet, plantar fasciitis, bunions, hammertoes, neuromas, capsulitis, and chronic foot or ankle pain. Unlike over-the-counter inserts, custom orthotics are made specifically for your feet, providing more precise support, better comfort, and improved function.

Bracing Services
When a brace is needed, we make the process as convenient as possible by fitting you right here in our office. There is no need to go to a separate location or deal with multiple appointments — we can evaluate your condition, determine the right brace for your needs, and get you fitted in one place.
Braces can be an important part of treatment for conditions such as ankle instability, tendon injuries, arthritis, and other foot and ankle problems that need added support. By providing on-site fitting, we help ensure a more personalized fit, better comfort, and faster access to the support you need.
